Get a Look at Coach's First-Ever Ready-to-Wear Collection

Description

Prepare to lust: Coach has launched its first-ever ready-to-wear collection. The fall 2014 collection was unveiled today in New York City on the first day of Fashion Week. Designed by Stuart Vevers, the house's buzzy new executive creative director, the collection references classic American sportswear and workwear. The British-born Vevers, an alum of Loewe and Mulberry, immersed himself in the heritage of the Coach brand and various Americana before presenting the collection in front of a giant photo of an Oregon street from 1979 by Joel Sternfeld. Standout pieces include the leather toggle coat, dusty blue shearling jacket, grommeted skirts—and of course gorgeous bags and shoes, ranging from shearling-lined wedge booties to a suede cross-body bag with whipstitching and a signature turn-lock closure. It's high fashion and luxury but has a wearable feel. These are clothes you'll want to wear for work and weekend. "My biggest objective was to set a direction that felt authentic, to move forward and offer something unique in the market," Stuart told me. "That means juxtaposing references, like authentic workwear with New York style and coolness." Stuart said that he looks at all sorts of women for inspiration but that his barometer for whether women
